Rawai Luxury Tents, Pushkar Review: 100+ Guest Reviews Analyzed

My Stay – October 2021 (Post-Covid, Off-Season)
I visited Rawai Luxury Tents in October 2021, just after Covid, so it was off-season time and crowd was very less. We went as a family — me, my wife and our two kids.

Booked the stay online via Booking.com, price was good for what we got. Food quality was good overall. Pool was good, kids enjoyed a lot playing in the pool, and outdoor sitting area of the resort is also good, nice open space to relax with family.
For travel, we took a taxi from Ajmer to resort which cost around Rs 500. On return, took Ola cab from resort to Ajmer railway station, that also cost around Rs 500.
Only thing, mini bar items were on expensive side. Otherwise, overall it was a good experience, especially since it was off-season and very less crowd, kids got full open space and pool to enjoy.
My rating: 4/5

Like most luxury tent properties, opinions here run hot and cold. Most guests come away raving about the ambience, food, and hospitality, but there's a meaningful cluster of 1-star reviews describing power and water problems, billing disputes, and poor service recovery — worth knowing about before you book, especially in winter.
What Guests Consistently Praise
The setting and the tents themselves
Reviewers repeatedly describe the property as peaceful, green, and beautifully maintained — "like stepping into a dream" and "like we were in a Harry Potter film" are phrases that show up more than once. The tents are spacious, come with attached bathrooms (some with bathtubs), and several guests specifically call out the garden, swings, and open-air seating as great for kids and families. Because Pushkar is considered a sacred town, meat, fish, and alcohol aren't served anywhere in the city — several reviewers note this adds a distinctly calm, spiritual character to a stay here.
Location
The single most repeated positive: how close the property is to Pushkar's main attractions. Multiple reviews put the Brahma Temple at roughly 400–700 meters away, with the market and ghats also within easy walking distance — rare for a resort that still feels secluded and quiet once you're inside the gates.
Food — especially the rooftop café
The in-house restaurant (referred to as Sol Café / Soul Cafe / Sol6 across reviews) gets singled out often, particularly for its rooftop/open-air seating with temple views. Guests praise the variety (Indian and continental), the breakfast spread, and the kitchen's ability to accommodate Jain and vegan requests — one review described a 175–200 guest wedding function where the team delivered "pure Jain food" with "complete authenticity."
Staff mentioned by name
Rakesh Sharma comes up more than any other staff member — seven separate reviews name him directly for going out of his way to help guests (including one where he tracked down a guest's lost jewelry). Beyond him, a wide spread of staff get individual shout-outs rather than one dominant team: receptionists Yuvraj/Yuvra and Ashutosh, managers Mool Singh and Rajat, and restaurant staff Ranvir, Pooja, Bharat, and Chhotu. The breadth suggests good service is common but not uniformly consistent property-wide.
Extras
Recurring positives include a swimming pool, a kids' play area and yoga room, a Kerala Ayurvedic spa, evening bonfires, magic shows and live music, camel rides and jeep safaris arranged through the resort, and pet-friendly rooms (with an extra charge).
Recurring Complaints
Power and water issues, especially in winter. This is the most serious and most frequent complaint. Multiple reviews from the December–February period describe non-functional geysers, no hot water in near-freezing temperatures, and tripping MCBs/power outages in "luxury" category rooms.
Billing and minibar disputes. Several guests describe being charged for minibar items they say they never consumed, with the property allegedly using outdated photos as "proof" of consumption. This theme repeats across multiple independent reviews, which makes it more than a one-off misunderstanding.
Inconsistent room service and food-outlet pricing. A few reviews mention room service being flatly refused on weekends, slow service during breakfast, and steep à la carte pricing at the on-site café (one reviewer cited Rs 600 for dal makhani and two chapatis). Others had no complaints at all about food quality or price — this varies a lot by visit.
Noise from nearby parties. Because the resort is tented, several guests mention that neighboring group parties (including "stag" groups) or nearby village events created loud, late-night disturbances that management didn't always act on quickly.
Staff behavior during disputes. A subset of 1-star reviews describe rude or dismissive staff specifically when guests raised complaints (billing, pet charges, room issues) — a different pattern from the many reviews praising day-to-day staff warmth, suggesting service recovery (not baseline hospitality) is the weaker link.
Cancellation/rescheduling policy. At least one review describes a rigid policy around changing or canceling a booking, with an advance payment not refunded despite an early request to reschedule.
Manager availability during peak periods. A few reviews — especially around large group bookings — mention the manager being unreachable when problems came up, leaving front-line staff to handle escalations they weren't equipped to resolve.
Should You Stay Here?
Based on the pattern across 100 reviews, Rawai Luxury Tents works well if:
- You want a scenic, walkable base for visiting Pushkar's temples, ghats, and market
- You're visiting outside the coldest winter months, when the hot water/heating complaints cluster
- You value ambience, food variety, and a spa/nature-focused stay over five-star operational polish
It may be worth reconsidering, or at minimum setting expectations, if:
- You're visiting in December–February and hot water reliability is a dealbreaker
- You want to avoid any risk of billing disputes — photograph the minibar and room contents at check-in
- You're booking a large group event and want a guaranteed on-site manager throughout your stay
- You want assurance of a quiet night — ask directly whether any private parties or events are booked nearby
