Jagira Ananta Elite, Gir Review: My Stay Experience Plus 100+ Guest Reviews Analyzed

Published on July 2, 2026 by Wasim

My Stay – August 2023 (Off-Season)

I stayed at Jagira Ananta Elite in August 2023, in off-season time. Because of off-season, crowd was very less, so property felt more peaceful and relaxed, not crowded at all.

Jagira Ananta Elite, Gir villa exterior

Food quality was good overall, no major complaints from my side. One good thing I noticed — if you are travelling with your own driver, hotel arranges separate room and food for him also, food was around ₹150 per meal for driver, which is quite reasonable.

Front desk service can be improved a bit, checking-in and checking-out took some time, staff response was not that prompt. Also sport equipment (indoor games etc.) was less in variety, so if you are in a big group and expecting lot of games/activities, don't expect too much on that front.

Overall it was a decent stay for the price, especially good option if you are going in off-season when it's quieter and peaceful.

Beyond my own stay, here is what 100+ other Google reviews say about this property:

Overview

Jagira Ananta Elite, Gir is a resort property near Sasan Gir, Gujarat — the gateway town for Gir National Park's lion safaris. On Google, it holds a 4.3 average rating from 2,165 reviews. To get a clearer picture of what guests actually experience, we went through a sample of 100 recent reviews (spanning late 2025 through mid-2026) and pulled out the recurring themes, both good and bad.

Here's the rating split from that sample:

Rating Count Share
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5) 77 77%
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4) 9 9%
⭐⭐⭐ (3) 0 0%
⭐⭐ (2) 1 1%
⭐ (1) 13 13%

The pattern is fairly polarized: the large majority of guests leave 5-star reviews praising staff and food, but there's a consistent minority (13%) who report genuinely bad experiences — mostly around service breakdowns and food availability. Very few reviews land in the middle; people tend to either love it or have a rough stay.

What Guests Consistently Praise

The restaurant staff, by name

If there's one standout theme across dozens of reviews, it's the restaurant and F&B team. The same names come up again and again as the reason guests had a good stay:

  • Akshay (Chandel) — mentioned in 38 of the 100 reviews, almost always positively
  • Rupa — mentioned 18 times, frequently praised for handling dietary requests (including Jain food) and quick service
  • Dhara — 8 mentions
  • Bilal — 7 mentions
  • Madho — 6 mentions
  • Tabrez / Tabrej — 10 mentions combined
  • Ritika and Dharmendra (kitchen/reception) — 4 mentions each

When a hotel review roundup names the same handful of staff over and over, it's usually a reliable signal — and here it's clear that guest experience leans heavily on this specific team's hospitality rather than the property's systems.

Location and setting

Most reviewers who enjoyed their stay called out the resort's proximity to Gir wildlife sanctuary (estimates range from ~7 km to a further 8–10 km depending on the review), the quiet, nature-heavy surroundings, and the villa-style architecture. Several guests specifically mentioned river-facing rooms, a large garden suitable for cricket or football, and a generally peaceful, "away from the city" atmosphere — exactly what people book this kind of property for.

Amenities

Recurring positives include:

  • A swimming pool (though see the caveats below)
  • A spa — one review singled out a therapist named Anjana for an "excellent" massage experience
  • Indoor games: snooker, table tennis, carrom, foosball, air hockey, and badminton
  • Good food overall, with several mentions of accommodating Jain and dietary requests

Owner responsiveness

The General Manager, Narendra Rana, personally replies to nearly every review — positive and negative — often inviting dissatisfied guests to email the property directly (gm.gir@anantaglobalhotels.com). That level of engagement is worth noting; it suggests complaints are at least being tracked internally, even if the on-the-ground execution is inconsistent.

Recurring Complaints

The negative reviews cluster around a fairly small set of repeated issues rather than being random one-offs:

Breakfast and food availability. The single most common complaint. Multiple guests describe empty buffet containers that took an hour or more to refill, menu items listed but not actually served (pancakes/waffles promised, not delivered), and repetitive menus across consecutive days.

Inconsistent staff behavior. While the restaurant team draws consistent praise, several 1-star reviews describe rude or unprofessional behavior elsewhere — a manager described as combative during a cancelled cultural event, front-desk staff described as unhelpful, and support staff reportedly expecting tips for basic assistance.

Room condition and maintenance. A handful of reviews mention non-functional phones, TV remotes, or toilet flushes; dirty shower curtains; insects in rooms; and a general sense that rooms need updating even when the property itself is well kept.

The approach road. Several guests — including otherwise positive reviews — mention a rough, bumpy 5 km stretch of road to reach the property, plus an early departure time (around 5:30 AM) needed to make 6:30 AM safari slots.

Small pool, limited Wi-Fi. A few reviewers noted the swimming pool is on the small side and better suited to kids, and that Wi-Fi could be improved.

Noise from events. Two reviews independently mention weddings or parties held on-site the night of their stay, with noise (and in one case floodlights and construction of a stage) disrupting their evening. If you're booking for a quiet getaway, it's worth asking the property whether any functions are scheduled during your stay.

Price vs. value. A recurring thread in the negative reviews is that the room rates feel high relative to the facilities and service received, especially compared to how consistently the restaurant staff is praised.

Should You Stay Here?

Based on the pattern across 100 reviews, Jagira Ananta Elite works well if:

  • You're visiting Gir primarily for the safari and want a scenic, nature-immersed property to relax in afterward
  • You're not overly sensitive to a rough approach road or an early wake-up for safari pickup
  • You value good food and attentive restaurant service — the F&B team is consistently the property's strongest asset

It may be worth reconsidering, or at minimum setting expectations, if:

  • You're arriving late at night and want a hassle-free check-in with fully stocked rooms
  • Breakfast variety and reliability matters to you — this is the most frequently repeated complaint
  • You want a guaranteed quiet stay — ask in advance if any weddings or events are booked
