Turn CSV Spreadsheets into Structured JSON

Need to turn an Excel workbook, Google Sheets export, or CSV report into JSON for your web application or REST API? The CSV to JSON Converter converts tabular data into clean arrays of objects in milliseconds.

All conversions run entirely client-side in your browser. Whether you are dealing with proprietary corporate metrics, customer contact lists, or private database exports, your confidential information stays on your computer.

Key Capabilities

Automatic Delimiter Detection

Intelligently detects whether your file uses standard commas, tabs (from spreadsheet clipboards), European semicolons, or pipe symbols.

Smart Type Inference

Automatically detects numbers and boolean flags without compromising zip codes or identifiers that feature leading zeroes (like 01234).

Dot-Notation Unflattening

Reconstructs nested JSON objects from dot-separated headers (e.g., geo.lat and geo.lng).

RFC 4180 Escaping Support

Gracefully handles complex cells containing embedded quotation marks, commas, and multiline text blocks without breaking row alignment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a CSV file or spreadsheet to JSON?
Paste your CSV rows into the input box or click "Upload CSV/TSV" to select a file from your computer. The tool automatically detects your delimiter and converts the rows into clean, formatted JSON.
Can it automatically detect delimiters like Tabs, Semicolons, or Pipes?
Yes. With Auto-detect selected, the tool examines row patterns and identifies whether your data uses commas (,), tabs (\t from Excel/Google Sheets), semicolons (;), or pipes (|). You can also override and specify a delimiter manually.
Does it parse numbers, booleans, and null values?
Yes. With "Parse types" enabled, numeric values like 42 or 19.99 become numbers, true and false become booleans, and null strings become real nulls. Important edge cases such as numeric strings with leading zeros (e.g. zip codes like "01234") are safely preserved as strings.
How does it reconstruct nested JSON objects from dot notation?
If your CSV headers include dot-notation keys (such as "user.name" or "address.city"), checking "Expand dot keys" will reconstruct them into structured, nested JSON objects (e.g. {"user": {"name": ...}}).
What if my CSV has no header row?
Simply uncheck "First row is header". The converter will then generate a 2D JSON array of arrays (matrix), where each row is an array of cell values.
Is my data secure and private?
Absolutely. All processing occurs 100% in your local browser window. Zero data is transmitted across the internet, ensuring complete privacy for sensitive spreadsheets, financial records, and user tables.
